Walmart, famous for its ubiquitous supercenters averaging 185,000 square feet, is testing a much smaller, 15,000-square-foot format called a Walmart Express Store in the Stanly County town of Richfield, population 516.

    In November, The LandTrust for Central North Carolina hosted its annual fall canoe trip, and this year the location was Riles Creek at Tuckertown Reservoir. Tuckertown Reservoir is on the Yadkin-Pee Dee River, and as a lake with very little development, is a fantastic place to paddle on open water.
